This was a photograph taken in 1982 of the Charles Frodsham Clock that sits in the Building 1 Lobby at present. The description above the clock states: This clock was made by Charles Frodsham of London and purchased by the Naval Observatory in April 1848 for $420. It was used as the observing clock for the prime vertical instrument in the south wing at the old Naval Observatory at 24th and E. Street NW, until 1862. This clock kept sidereal time, and it is now keeping universal time.
