The James Melville Gilliss Library

The James Melville Gilliss Library located on the grounds of the United States Naval Observatory is one of the preeminent scientific libraries in the United States.

 May rare book display: 

This month we have Transit of Venus books from the transits of 1629, 1769 and 1882  in our book case.   Get ready for next month's Transit of Venus on Tuesday, June 5th. You won't have another chance to see it until  December 10,  2117. 

Cake day is Wednesday May 9th.
