Interactive Catalog and Image Search

Interactive search service on the PMM Image database and the NOMAD, USNO-B1 and USNO-A2 catalogs. This service extracts all the objects within a user specified radius or box around a single point in the sky.

Image and Catalog Search Page

To extract a region from one of the image database and/or catalogs listed below, you will need to enter the RA and Dec of the center of the region, and either the width and height of, or the radius of the search region. Then click on the "Retrieve Data" button at the bottom of the form.

This form is populated with a reasonable starting set of default values.   As you go further down, you get to more and more specific items.  For basic usage, you need only enter a position (RA, Dec), select a box size (rawid, decwid) and hit the "Retrieve Data" button at the bottom of the form.   The rest of the form is there to help you tailor the output to your specific needs.

Information about any of the options is available in the Guide.
Set the Field ID and request E-mail notification of job completion. The Field ID is just an ASCII string. The Email address is optional, and only if you desire to be notified when your request has finished processing
Field ID string.
E-mail address if you want to be notified when your request is finished. This item is optional.
Enter position on the sky. RA is in hours (sexigesimal or decimal). Dec is in degrees (sexigesimal or decimal). Equinox (either J2000, or B1950) and Epoch.
Right Ascension in Hours
Declination in degrees.
Equinox
Epoch of position.
Select region shape, and set regions size. Regions can be circular (size defined by radius) or rectangular (size defined by width and height).

Units of arc for the region size. Choices are Degrees, Minutes and Seconds of arc.
Width of a rectangular region in RA.
Height of a rectangular region in Declination.
Radius of a circular region.
Select types of data to retrieve (catalog, image and/or finder chart), and choose file format and compression. For catalogs, file formats are either ASCII, or XML/VOTable.
Request catalog data
Request a finder chart.
Request image data.
Select RA/Dec coordinate formatting in catalog files.
Select output catalog file format (ASCII or XML/VOTable).
Compress ASCII files with gzip.
Select input data sources.
Select star catalogs to search.
Select Image Surveys to search.
Select catalog columns to retrieve, and pick primary sort key.
Pick which catalog columns to return.
Select primary sort key for returned catalog data.
Additional magnitude related selection criteria when searching the catalogs.
Primary magnitude for selection.
Bright magnitude selection limit.
Faint magnitude selection limit.
Select first passband for color selection criterion. Color in this case is defined as the difference between the first and second selected passbands (i.e. clr0m1A - clr0m1B).
Select second passband for color selection criterion. Color in this case is defined as the difference between the first and second selected passbands (i.e. clr0m1A - clr0m1B).
Color minimum selection limit (min. of clr0m1A - clr0m1B).
Color maximum selection limit (max. of clr0m1A - clr0m1B).
Passband in which to estimate magnitudes (if requested).
Additional Position related constraints on catalog data selection.
Minimum position error [mas].
Maximum position error [mas].
Minimum proper motion [mas/yr].

Options governing the presentation of image and chart data.
Overplot star lists on images.
Select normal or inverted color table for images.
Select graphics output format.
Retrieve image data in FITS format as well.
Select plot orientation.
Select the form of the coordinate overlay - N and E marks, Tick marks and Grid lines.
Include star id labels on plots.
Plot a center marker.
Options for overplotting user supplied data.
Optional Additional Overplot Object Name.
How to plot objects: just points, points + labels, etc.
Enter positions, plot symbols and labels for user data. The field parsing is VERY picky (ie not very clever). If you try using this, please be aware of this. See the help file for more information. The line format is: RA (hh mm ss.s) DEC (dd mm ss.s) Mag. Label Color Symbol
